Independent Component 1
- LITERAL
(a) “I, Joseph Garcia, affirm that I completed my
independent component which represents 36 hours of work.”
(b) Cachu, Marina. "Independent Component." Interview by Joseph Garcia. Hefe Daily 5 Feb. 2015: 1-420. Print.
(c) I shadowed my nina Marina Cachu, a State-Farm sales rep. I asked her various questions about health insurance and how it interacts between both the patient and the healthcare provider.
My independent component work allowed me to see patient care in a whole new dimension. Patients have to deal with not only healthcare providers, but also health insurance providers. Being able to ask questions about healthcare broadened my research scope and allowed me to see more aspects of healthcare. I provided a picture in my January blog of the grand opening of the facility. That particular day was less centered on insurance than celebration. However, that was the building that I completed my independent component in.

This
triple medical system leads to quarrels between provider and insurer,
and more often than not, the patient suffers. Analyzing this relationship gave me a better understanding of healthcare. One time, I asked about State farm's goals in providing health insurance. I was told that State farm [and most other insurer] strive to give personalized, affordable, and broad coverage to each of their clients. This got me thinking that if both the provider and the insurer strive for excellent patient satisfaction, then why is there so much dissatisfaction with our current system?
This made me think that it might be interesting to investigate similar relationships in countries with National Health, like Canada, United Kingdom, or even Denmark.

You might try emailing one of them with some well thought-out questions.
